Game Description
Craps is a dice game where players bet on the outcomes of a pair of dice. The game is popular in casinos and can also be played in informal settings as 'street craps'. Players bet on various possible outcomes of the dice roll, with different odds and payouts for each type of bet.How to Play Craps
Craps is played with two six-sided dice. The game has two main phases:
Phase 1: Come-Out Roll
- The first roll of the dice in a betting round is called the "come-out roll"
- On the come-out roll:
- If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 (known as a "natural"), Pass Line bets win
- If the shooter rolls 2, 3, or 12 (known as "craps"), Pass Line bets lose
- If the shooter rolls any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10), that number becomes the "point"
Phase 2: Point Phase
- If a point is established, the shooter continues rolling until either:
- The point number is rolled again (Pass Line bets win)
- A 7 is rolled (called "seven out" - Pass Line bets lose)
Basic Betting
- Pass Line Bet: The most basic bet in craps
- Wins on 7 or 11 on come-out roll
- Loses on 2, 3, or 12 on come-out roll
- If point is established, wins if point is made before a 7
- Don't Pass Bet: The opposite of Pass Line
- Wins on 2 or 3 on come-out roll (12 is a tie)
- Loses on 7 or 11 on come-out roll
- If point is established, wins if 7 comes before the point
There are many other types of bets available in craps, each with different odds and rules. The game is known for its exciting atmosphere in casinos and the camaraderie among players, as most bets are wagering with the shooter to win.
